Grass Season at its Best - Wimbledon 2009

Wimbledon is probably the most prestigious tennis tournament of them all, mainly because it is also the oldest. The best players always dream of the day when they win Wimbledon. Some of the best performers in the sport are always great performers at Wimbledon, take Pete Sampras and Roger Federer as the best examples.

Roger Federer is still pretty young, he only turns 28 this year. Now, having equalled Pete Sampras at the top with 14 Grand Slam titles, he will have found his peace of mind and we expect him to win many more. He is now the main favorite at Wimbledon 2009, even though Rafa Nadal managed to beat him here in 2008 in an epic final. I am anxiously awaiting to see what will happen this year, even though my bet is on Federer.

Learn to Care for your Plants

Decorating your interior space with plants makes it a really pleasant place to live in. Still, you need to focus your attention on all the details that make your indoor plants survive, adapt and flourish as you’d like. Some of the plants that are best adapted to interior spaces are the orchids.

Decorating the spaces inside your home or garden needs a touch of really pleasant green. Indoor plants are perfect for this.

Here are some of the details you need to pay attention to when decorating the interior spaces of your home.

1. Excess moisture.
Too much irrigation of your plants brings internal rot and fungal infections because plants can not dry out as they need.

Research the amount of water needed by the various plants from your garden.

2. Excess and lack of light.
Indoor plants usually require shade, but sometimes we forget that quite often our plants are subjected to excessive light or shade.

Give your plants the light they need to grow and flourish as you want them to.

3. Pollutants
If you are decorating a room or an area where there are many chemical smells, cigarette smoke, etc, your plants may start to suffer greatly.

In this case, you have no choice but to remove your plants from that room or reduce the use of such substances.

A substance that will give you many problems is chlorine in any of its forms.

Special Recommendation:

One of the plants that I recommend as the most versatile and adaptable are the orchids. They would be perfect for use in every corner of your home, and they are adapted to shade, light, heat, cooler temperatures.

There are many varieties of shapes and colors and you can surely find the perfect orchid for each of the spaces you’ve decided to decorate.

Why is Barack Obama so Popular

The 44th president of United States of America, Barack Obama has raised enormous expectations in his country and an unusual enthusiasm in several other countries in the world. Not surprisingly, these feelings usually occur in any transition of power especially when, as in this case, they come at the end of eight years of government of a party which makes room to a period in which a group with different ideologies take the most important decisions over the next four years. However we do have the right to ask ourselves why so much enthusiasm and even joy at the start of this new era in international politics.

Here are some of the causes for that have aroused the massive interest for the new president:

1. United States remains a very important country for the international community. Regardless of its financial crisis and the animosity that may have grown in different places, their role as the first global power is still in place and what happens in its internal policy is everybody’s business. The masses yearning for a change of position have thought that the president Obama might be a good leader of the country and thus there are direct or indirect chances of making themselves felt in the coming years.

2. United States is not only important but influential and any decision of their leaders can affect the lives of millions around the globe. Measures relating to foreign trade create jobs or not. The operation of monetary policy contributes to the stability of the economy or cause anxiety and frustration for employers, while a decision to support plans and policies of certain governments can bring a flood of new resources in a country’s economy.

3. The world was tired of the Bush era, but especially of some very unfortunate decisions such as the Iraq invasion based on false evidence and arguments, the shameful treatment of prisoners of war (even those who have been granted such status), the legalization of torture and the creation of secret prisons in European countries in addition to their indifference to environmental issues.

4. The new president of the United States represents a breath of fresh in the internal politics and external relations of the United States and hopes to reopen a position which is closer to the global interests on issues as sensitive as the commitment to stop global warming, peace in the Middle East, etc.

5. The new president comes from a minority that has suffered the greatest humiliation and subjected to any form of discrimination imaginable.

The new president wastes no time in beginning to implement measures related to some of his campaign promises, such as setting a deadline to end the shame of Guantanamo prison. But even more is expected. We hope the world does not lose sight of something elemental: President Obama is not God. He is a man and there will be mistakes, anxieties and unfinished issues. It would therefore be desirable to be reasonable and not expect miracles.
